New VS Used: Usually with a generator I recommend getting used. They’re one of those things that lose a ton of value the moment you buy them. Odds are if it works when you buy it itll keep working for a long time. How much wattage do i need? Generators are rated at “peak” so if then generator says 3000 watts usually thats its “surge” rating. You want to run a generator close to 70% of its rating for peak efficiency. Generator ratings: Honda: Best all around, affordable, capable, durable, Honda.
Ecoflow: Expensive, dumb unless your in the eco-ecosystem Generac: Expensive, VERY GOOD, these puppies will run till ur toes curl, hospitals use them. Not very portable.
Predator: ok price, overrated, they have a lot of problems most of the time. They work fairly well but I personally have bad experiences with them. Sportsman: Absolute garbage. Do not touch these.
Pulsar and Westington: Walmart generators basically. Ok price. Ok performance. Made to be run by dumb people. Decent generators Fuel: Gasoline: Its gas, it will do the job Diesel: Its diesel, it will do a better job
Propane: Amazing price to performance, harder to store but better value and usage. You’ll often see “dual fuel” or “tri fuel” this just means it can use two or three different fuels. Propane has a different hookup but in most cases your gas and diesel will go in the same place but don’t mix them, obviously.
